In 1946, it moved to the new FM band as WEAF-FM at a frequency of 97.3. By 1947, the call letters had been changed to WNBC-FM, and the station moved to its present frequency, 97.1, in 1948. The name of the station was changed to WRCA-FM in October, 1954 and changed back to WNBC-FM in May, 1960. Switched to all-news WNWS on June 18, 1975, then to WYNY on 1/1/77. WYNY changed from Adult Contemporary to a Country format on July 1, 1987 and was sold to Emmis in 1988. Country WYNY moved to 103.5 on 9/22/88, exchanging frequencies with WQHT (Hot 103), which became Hot 97 on this frequency.
