| History | The history of this station dates back to 1927, when WGL began broadcasting from the Hotel Majestic on Central Park West. The station was sold in 1928, becoming WOV and featuring Italian-language programming. In 1941, the station moved to 1280kc. During the 1950`s, rhythm `n blues and gospel programming was added for evening hours. In 1959, the station was sold, adopting the WADO call letters and a rock `n roll format, which lasted until 1963, when Spanish-language news and talk programs began to be phased in. |
