History This station was first placed on the air by the Muzak Corp. in December, 1941 as W47NY on a frequency of 44.7MHz. In October, 1943, the call letters were changed to WGYN. When the new FM band was adopted in 1946, the station moved to 96.1, moving again to 97.9 in 1947. WGYN went off the air in May, 1950. In December, 1952, the frequency was revived as WEVD-FM, which it remained until February, 1989, when the station was sold to Spanish Broadcasting and the current call letters and format were adopted. WEVD moved to 1050 AM at that time.
